What is the difference between Apple Garageband and Logic Express 9?

Which program would you recommend I use for enjoyment and professional purposes. PLUS: Can you use a computer keyboard to record music instead of a Musical keyboard for Logic Express 9. I know that you can use the computer keyboard for Garageband.

Garageband is meant for just about anyone to use, while even Logic Express is meant for professionals. As far as I know, Logic does not offer the option to use your QWERTY keyboard like a piano keyboard. They probably figure that if you can afford to buy Logic, you probably can afford a good MIDI keyboard.

However, you can buy a nice USB 2-octave keyboard like the Korg Nano Key for just $99. You get used to changing octaves on it pretty quickly, because it’s just a lot more musical than trying to use letter keys for that purpose.
