Is instant oatmeal just as good as regular oatmeal for lowering cholesterol?
I’m a 30 year old male, about 10 pounds overweight and want to speed up my metabolism. Breakfast has not been a part of my weekly routine for over a decade, but I thought that if I have instant oatmeal in the morning, it will be at least something as well as lower cholesterol. But is it as effective as regular oatmeal? Of course I plan to include exercise as well as eating better to shed the 10 pounds.
Instant is better than cereal, but steel cut oatmeal is best. Instant is prepared, and typically has sugar, etc. in it.
You can prepare Steel cut oatmeal on the weekend or the night before, then divide it into 1/2 cup portions and add a tbsp or two of fresh or fresh-frozen fuit.
The best way to speed up your metabolism is to eat 6 small, clean meals every day. Don’t eat sugar … or any sweeteners… drink water rather than soda.
Also, try to work up to jogging 40 minutes 4x a week before work. Reduce your calorie intake by 10%… reducing more will make it harder to lose weight. Doing some weight training will also increase metabolism.
If you can, try cutting out diary, wheat, and starch… And try to eat fruit only in the morning.
It may take about 6 weeks to kick start your metabolism, but if you try all of these things, then you should be able to trim off the 10 pounds permanently.
